I just thought of a horribly sad AU where Harry goes by his middle name. Like everyone in the wizarding world knew him as Harry Potter the boy who lived so what if he didn’t want that so made the decision before he even got on the train to go by James. Like imagine after Ron freaking out he went like “it’s James actually” and could you just imagine the look on some of the teachers faces when he said that. I think McGonagall would definitely tear up a bit because he looks so much like James that sometimes when she sees him coming around the corner she expects Sirius and Remus and Peter to be right behind him. And Snape would probably hate him even more after hearing that because here is the son of a man he hated who looks exactly like his father and even has the same name. Could you imagine when he meets Sirius and Remus. I feel like Remus would have just broken down and cried once he got to his office at hogwarts because he looks so much like James and his mannerisms are so similar and he even sounds like him. And Sirius would have just broken down and cried in the shrieking shack instead of plotting murder because could you imagine that like Harry going like “It’s James actually.” I think Sirius would have lost it right then and there.
